Insight To Impact Foundation exists to strengthen mental health crisis response, support first responders, and advance long-term systems change.

The work is both immediate and visionary — addressing real needs today while helping design something better for the future.

Our Work

CIT Support & Systems Insight

Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) is a nationally recognized approach that helps law enforcement officers, first responders, and communities respond more safely and effectively to behavioral health crises. CIT emphasizes de-escalation, understanding mental illness, community partnerships, and connecting individuals to appropriate support whenever possible.

At its best, CIT improves outcomes not only for responders and individuals in crisis, but also for families and the broader community.

Kimberly A. Bowman brings a distinctive voice to CIT-related work through both lived family experience and executive leadership in behavioral health systems. She understands what families experience before, during, and after crisis encounters—and the real pressures first responders face in the field.

Through speaking, consulting, and partnership support, Kimberly helps communities strengthen CIT efforts with a deeper focus on systems collaboration, family perspective, and long-term impact.

Paws For Impact

Paws For Impact is a specialized initiative of Insight To Impact Foundation designed to support the emotional wellness of first responders through certified canine teams.First responders carry extraordinary burdens. They are often exposed to trauma, chronic stress, emotional fatigue, and the weight of helping others through crisis. Yet many work in cultures where stress is normalized and support is underutilized.Paws For Impact creates structured opportunities for connection, decompression, morale support, and wellness through the calming presence of trained therapy dogs and professional handlers.

The BHAG

For Insight To Impact Foundation, the BHAG is this:

Building America’s Ideal Mental Health System.

Too many families, first responders, providers, and communities interact with fragmented systems built around crisis rather than continuity. Too often help comes late, navigation is confusing, accountability is weak, and families are left carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone.

We believe something better is possible.

Why This Work Matters

Untreated serious mental illness is linked to homelessness, hospitalization, incarceration, and victimization.

Many communities rely on law enforcement as default crisis responders due to behavioral health gaps.

Animal-assisted interactions can lower stress and anxiety markers.

Therapy dog programs are associated with improved morale and connection.

Jails and prisons have become defacto mental health institutions.
